Page requests and external services

When you open a website, its hosting server receives connection information needed to deliver the page, including your IP address and the requested address. Server log settings and retention depend on the hosting environment. These pages contain no analytics or advertising trackers installed by us. Images, styles and scripts are delivered as local files.

If you open the language-neutral homepage without a saved language choice, your browser asks Country.is for the country associated with your IP address. This sends your IP address to that service. The website uses only the returned country code to select a language and does not store that code. The result can be inaccurate, for example when using a VPN. English is shown if the lookup fails. Direct links to German or English pages do not require this lookup.

Your language choice

Choosing DE or EN saves that preference in your browser's local storage under dsl24-language. It remains until you clear this website's stored data. It is not used as a user account and takes priority over country lookup on a later visit to the neutral homepage.

Search and email

Category search filters the articles already loaded in your browser. It does not send search terms to a search service. Selecting the contact address opens your email application. If you send a message, you provide the information in that message and your sender address. Avoid including unnecessary sensitive information. Requests concerning correction or deletion of your correspondence can be sent to the same contact address.

Manufacturer and source links lead to external websites with their own privacy terms. This notice does not describe their processing. Any sign-in required by a private preview is operated by the preview provider and is not part of the static upload package.
